The Tastyburger…Not!
Billed as a “Big Boy, but better”, the Tastyburger gave me high expectations. Personally speaking, I love the Frisch’s Big Boy® and when I heard about one that was better – well, let’s just say I made it a priority to check this hamburger out. And I really wish I could tell you the legend was true…but I can’t!
This is no Big Boy – and it definitely isn’t better.
How’s that for frankness? This one hurt me folks, I’m not gonna lie. There is really nothing special about this sandwich. The two patties are small, the bun is pretty generic – I even couldn’t really taste the tartar sauce or whatever their secret sauce was. The cheeses wasn’t even cooked when I received it, like it wasn’t warm enough to melt it in any way.
The price was the only saving grace, as it was only $5.95 with a glass of water. Other than the burger being so underwhelming, the fries were cold and looked like they were Ore-Ida™ in quality. I ordered a side salad with Italian dressing. My “brown lettuce” might have been fresh at one time this week? Just not when I was supposed to eat it. I did take a bite, only to discover the normally zesty Italian dressing was actually something sweet – so I’m not really sure they put Italian on it. Didn’t matter…I stopped eating it at that point.
So would I say the Tasyburger lived up to it’s name as “tasty”? No. And the best way to describe my experience in answering my lasting question…
“Would I come back here again?” The answer to that is No Way.
